Hello, I'm new here and I enjoy snakes and I was doing some research and found this forum so I decided to join!!!

I'm currently looking into getting a corn snake as my second snake, first being my ball python, and I was looking to see if anyone that was a current owner or previous owner with any suggestions tips on enclosure, products ext.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Hello, I'm new to Forums!! Corn Sankes

I already replied to your tother thread before I saw this (By the way no need to double post similair things, people here are very active, sometimes of day are a little slow but someone always comes around soon) - There are lot's of corn owners here - including myself. If you take a look at the forum page there is a section dedacated to them, and a lot of your questions will probably be answered there already.

Re: Hello, I'm new to Forums!! Corn Sankes

Welcome, adult corns need a three foot viv, they can go straight into one this size as babies as long as you provide lots and lotss of hiding areas. The hottest spot in the hot end of the viv should be 86f and cool end 70-75f. An adult needs a minimum of two hides, one hot end one cool end. They can live on mice for the whole of their ,ives, no need to change to rats. Some people use aspen as a substrate, i use reptibark for all my snakes. They need a water bowl to drink from and sometimes soak in. Have found with my guys that they also love a hide stuffed with sphagnum moss - slightly damp but not wet.

Any questions then ask away!!

Thanks!!!! This is what I was looking for, great info and I was looking for someone else that uses Repti Bark. What do you think about housing a baby in a large Exo- Terra Faunarium found here @ Exo Terra : Faunarium / All-Purpose Terrarium

Re: Hello, I'm new to Forums!! Corn Sankes

Those faunariums are fine - make sure that the snake is SMALLER than the length+width of the faunarium tho or it is too small.

Example - snake is 18 inches faunarium would need to be 14inches long by 6 inches wide (20 inch total) to just about be big enough.

Corn snakes are very simple. A rubermaid with a water dish, substrate, hide, and a heat pad and you've got yourself a set up. I keep several in this way and they do great. I have 15 good eggs in the incubator now should be hatching in about 3 weeks.
