so what do i need
right ok guys, ive decided to get 2 red thase beardies and i need to know what i need.
ive seen this on ebay but in wondering if theres anything else that i need on top of it:
4ft/48" Vivarium Bearded Dragon Starter Kit on eBay (end time 22-May-11 13:58:18 BST)
can you please take a look at tell me what you all think of it please as i have leo geckos and would like something bigger but again manageable.

the 2 being housed together will be for future breeding plans as i would like to try my hand at breeding and with beardies, it would be easier to get rid of the young.
i hope that you know how i mean "get rid of"

beardies are ok to either either f/f, m/f or f/f/m but never m/m only have 1 male in a viv at one time. but why not get used to breeding ya geckos and get used to incubating before you start 'trying ya hand' an beardies as once they hatch they will eat u out of house an home with ya live feed

yh im hoping to get a super mack snow to breed with my girl, but i would like a pair beardie babies to raise at the same time so by the time it comes to breeding the beardies, i wouldve bred the geckos so would have some small amount of experience, but i am trying to get all the info on beardies first as i only know the bare minimum with them, for example; i know they need uv lights, i know they need 4ft vivs and food variety but thas about it

throw away the heat rock. everything else looks good. you will also want a thermostat/thermometer.

ok thanks, yh thermostat is a must, that is 1 thing that ive learned with owning snakes.
another thing i need to ask, will i need a dimmer for the bulbs

If we can do something for these animals like give them a home and we can meet there basic needs then we are all heroes for making sure that the animals will still be there for future generations and should lead by example.

not a dimmer, but you could get a timer so you can't have to mess with turning them off and on.

Also bin the calci sand.
Beardies will chew on that stuff for ages, especially if it's "attractively coloured".
As Sickvenom said, a timer for the UV bulb(s) will be fine, but a dimmer stat for the basking lamps though.
Maybe get a colony of Dubia roaches going as well, a happy healthy beardie can go through a massive amount of food sometimes, plus the offspring if you breed.
When I bred mine, I was going through close to 10 quids worth of crix/locust/mealies etc a day.

Also don't assume that baby beardies will be easy to find homes for.
When hatching season hits, you may find that so many people have produced that you might be hard pushed to find decent homes for them.
I ended up having to give my last few away.

Mine loves romaine, split grapes, shredded zucchini, squash, shredded sweet potatoes, strawberries sliced with the green still attached, blueberries, spinach leaves, bananas sometimes, pretty much anything in the produce section exception for onions and lettuce. Lettuce is a super no no. Sprinkle a tiny bit of calcium powder on top and mix it into the top layer. If you add to much They wont eat it. I also pour a bit into a bag with crickets in it and when they are all white we are good to go. Mine wont use a water dish so I have to stick him in the sink every so often and I mist his tank everyday. He loves misty time. Also I've heard of numerous dragons dying from food not being shredded/cut up enough and them choking, metabolic bone disease from lack of calcium, failure to digest and thrive from not having the proper lighting and heat sorce. ..they will also eat anything you put in the cage. Pine/cypress all bad. A few breeders use rabbit food pellets because they are made out of compressed veggy/hay material and can pass through their digestive tract. I've always used sand. As in the steralized play sand you can get in garden departments for like 2$ a 50lb bag. 10 years and no problems.

Or for UK people, £3.99 for 15 kilos at Argos, that's what I use as well.
Play sand FTW, Calci-sand For the Bin.
