New Rack Heating Question.
as many of you know, i just finished my new rack. well today i redid it and made a lil bit more of a gap in between lid and shelf. dont worry, i have lids on mine... they are all settled in and doing good, 3 of them went right back to the hide, and my ball is checking it out.
heres my question... i have 11'' heat tape going down the BACK SIDE PANEL of the right side of the cage, except for the top rack (my bP) who i have it curved around and on the bottom of her tub as well... i have 4 thermometers right on the heat tape at each level of rack, the temps read, from top to bottom... 108, 100, 98, 100... i have a rhestat hooked up as well, and it is on MEDIUM... that is the temps of the TAPE, NOT INSIDE THE TUBS!!! i did a little experimenting and the temps in the tubs seem to be about 10--12 degrees off.. is this okay?
i used another thermometer inside the tub to see what it measured... when i leave for work, i will turn the rheostat down some just to be safe..
well thanks!

Re: New Rack Heating Question.
right after i posted this, i moved the heat tape from being on the bottom ( providing belly heat, to the shelf above the lid, providing top heat... lol )
i know that doesnt probably do anything, i just dont want the excess heat tape on the bottom of the tub...
CAN I JUST CUT OFF THE EXTRA HEAT TAPE?

Never used it, but i am pretty sure you can. Just make sure to unplug it first. Also remember you don't want your BRB cage over 87 degree as it can be deadly to a rainbow.

For BRB it's 85 some say 87, but 95 is way to hot. There's a awesome care sheet on this site.
