Places to Visit - UK

Thought i would see if anyone else in the UK has places they like to visit to see animals (not necessarily just reptiles) and any particular recommendations.

Yesterday we spent the day at West Midland Safari Park - just south of Birmingham. It is amazing there - the drive thru safari is huge and the animals all have massive amounts of space to move around in.

Their reptile house is also pretty awesome - some places we have been to have a couple of frogs, a royal, a boa and some sort of lizard and thats it but at this park they have GTP's, alligators, crocs, monitors, anethrystine (bad spelling sorry) python, gaboon viper (which was feedin while we watched!!) and my faves a MASSIVE retic and a MASSIVE green Anaconda. - Could easily have spent a couple of hours sat with these two just watching them!

Re: Places to Visit - UK

I live a couple of miles away from the safari park... it is a good place... it's also where Mark Shea started off in this hobby. Good advantage for me is that the rep vet that is consultant at the park is also close by, so know I have a good vet handy if required.

Not too far from the safari park is a frog place called dartfrog.uk... great to go there and have a looksee also... plus take your card or purse, cos I always come away with something!

I'm not over keen on places where they keep the animals 'cooped up' in relatively small enclosures which is another reason it's a bonus living by the safari park.

I always thought that Longleat couldn't be beaten in terms of safari parks but West Midland takes teh prize easily.

Am really looking forward to going back!
