Re: activity question?

It depends on the individual snake and how old it is. Most of my carpets will go nuts exploring at first, then settle down and chill. Younger ones tend to be more active, but don't sweat it if she just relaxes in one spot. They are also largely nocturnal so you may not see much movement until the lights go out.

Re: activity question?

Yep, I`ll second that. Mine just chill out in the daytime and make a fair bit of noise crashing around at night, but not all the time. Have you got something for them to climb on in there? You might see them using that if you have but they really aren`t too active in the day at all. My Jungle Jaguar is fairly active quite often but as Willow says, it really depends on the individual. Get some food out of the freezer and all my snakes start going nuts ! lol They can all tell when there`s food coming, even if I haven`t even opened the freezer yet, it`s almost like they can read my body laguage or something ! Mad....

Re: activity question?

Haha, mine always know when it's feeding day too. They seem to sense in the morning that it will be the day, even if I'm a day or two off-schedule and cruise around all day. When I bring those buckets of hot water upstairs they all come to the fronts of their cages and stare. lol...and people say they're dumb.

Re: activity question?

Ours are similar - i defrost overnight so about 10pm will get the frozen prey out and put it in a kitchen cupboard - from then on the snakes seem to be on alert and more active until they get fed.

Re: activity question?

my carpets usually sit still for 3 or 4 days after they eat.

when they've not just been fed

during the day they sit in the one place mostley.

around 7,8pm they venture out sit on a high perch and watch whats going on.

as said once the lights are out its party time.lots of banging and crashing about.

again as said it depends on the individual some are lazy and lye around others never stop zooming about all the time.

you will learn to read your jungle after a few months

cheers shaun
