Brumating

I know that when breeding colubrids its recommended to cool them down at 55-65 degrees for three months. My snake room does not get cooler than 75 degrees. I have successfully cooled snakes down in that room and produced viable eggs although i had 6 slugs and 4 fertile, Im thinking the high brumation temperatures are to blame. My question is how do some of you keep your snake rooms at that low of a temperature because most people do not find temperatures that low comfortable to live in. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I brumate mine by placing them in poly totes down in my chilly basement.

Do you heat your whole house during the winter? You can designate a seldom used room as a "brumation room" and just set the thermostat lower.

Yeah no basement

and yes the whole house is heated, its a townhome. I have one room that i use to house all of my snakes upstairs. It obviously is a little warmer up there. Ive thought about bringing the colubrids down stairs for brumation and putting them in a dark closet. It stays around 72 in there but that is still a little on the warm side for brumation?
