Hey all i know alot of you keep carpet pythons so, where can i get good info on them. i have never looked anything up about them and am clueless any help would be appreciated.

i'm pretty sure we can answer most of your querys re carpets mate.a good book to get is keeping and breeding australian pythons,edited by mike swan.it covers all the carpets and is regarded as the carpet bible by a lot of morelia keepers.if you can be more specific in what you need to know about carpets.i'll do my best to give you an answer or point you in the right direction.

i was just wondering how many types there are and how big they get. we want a snake that gets to a fairly impressive size but is not a monster big snake (we might be getting a house soon so wh will have more room. there are also kids invoved and the boy has been around snakes since he was 3 and a half so he has no fear and i want to avoid and accident before it has a chance to happen). i can look up almost everything else but i wanted to know what people who actually have them think about theirs. thanks wayne for the site checked it out for a little bit last night and am going to search it more today.

This are the eight most commonly found in the US. Size vary from 5 feet as adults to ten. With Irain Jaya being the smallest. Coastal & Diamonds are the biggest. Jungle and Bredli in the middle. Irain Jaya and Bredli tend to be more mellow IMO.

This is were i got my Diamond x jungle they have more and if you scroll down the page you'll also see a ivory one forsale. Pythons

Diamonds are great, but require cooler temps. They have a great temperment.
I find coastals can be a lucky dip temper wise, but are great active snakes. They can reach impressive lengths, i saw pics of a 13 footer that weighed 13 kg.
Jungles are much like coastals temper wise, they can be extremely docile or can just plain nasty. They can reach good lengths and have great patterns and colours.
Bredli are the the pick of the bunch by most as they are very docile once they reach yearling ages.
Most carpets are very active snakes, which love to climb. All would be suited for a display tank as once they settle they dont really mind a bit of traffic.

both awesome snakes i think i am going to look into the diamond jungle. i really like the black and white but they are hard to find. i have looked at t ton of sites and can't find one. maybe when the babies hatch in a few months i will find one (hoping to at the reptile show at least). thanks for all you guys help and i am going to have to buy that book by mike swan.
