Re: Hello everyone!!!

Welcome, Birdhuff! Sounds like quite an interesting menagerie! We're kinda low right now--only 2 dogs, 2 cats, fish, & a BP, but hopefully will be increasing again soon!

Blue tongued skinks are really cool skinks. My favorites, though, are the five-lined skinks that live locally. Skinks in general are very interesting creatures, though!

Re: Hello everyone!!!

After reading my post it does sound like a lot!! With reptiles though there is very little upkeep day to day once you establish a routine. The dogs and bird on the other hand whew. I am a birdkeeper at a zoo and let me tell you if you think you want a large parrot. PLEASE do your homework they are very demanding animals more so than the dogs. LOL!

I learned that about 30 years ago when a guy I was dating took me to see his aunt, who owned parrots. When we arrived, she was swearing at the parrot in Italian and sweeping up feathers--which were ALL OVER the room. It seems the parrot had killed her parakeet and shredded it. I had no idea what she was saying to the parrot (but from the tone, I'm SURE there were swear words in there!), but the parrot was following her around, hopping out of the way of the broom occasionally, and talking to her as if he was acting apologetic. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen in a strange sort of way.

I also have a friend who had friends who breed parrots, and we visited them several times--it was really interesting. Parrots are fascinating birds--but definitely a LOT of work!
