Green Tree Python Aggro

Hey people! I'm new to the site and have a question...

Will my Green Tree Python ever outgrow her general aggression?

Re: Green Tree Python Aggro

I've never had one, but from what I've read in books and on the forum, the answer is No. They are beautiful snakes but for looking at only, not for handling. Sorry. Maybe someone else will have a different answer.

I don't have one either, but from what I hear, as Chu said, no. Some are naturally more aggressive than others. If you have a young snake, maybe he is just especially nippy, but generally, as far as I know, not so friendly.

Re: Green Tree Python Aggro

some are more aggresive than others and may never out grow their aggressive behaviour. on the other hand some can grow to become quite docile. it all depends on the individual snake. either way they are all beautiful to look at.

how old is your GTP now?

Re: Green Tree Python Aggro

She's just over a year old now, still in a yellow phase though when I bought her she was red. The guy I bought her from was able to handle her but he was really into aboreal pythons and wasn't afraid to take a hit. I'm more of a wuss and don't feel like having to dislodge a GTP's fangs from my skin. I had a good idea she would be aggressive and I have a ground boa that I can hadle if I want to, I was just curious.

They are soo nice in the red phase, sometimes I wish they stayed like that. Mind you, they are gorgeous when they are adults too..

Re: Green Tree Python Aggro

a lot of them calm down after a year or so and really its not recommended to handle them before theyre at least a year old anyway so you could start trying to get her used to handling now.

post some pics!
