Under the water...

My python, Voldemort, likes to go underneath the water dish... Is this normal.... It gave me a scare the first time because i didn't see him in his shelter and assumed he escaped... Besides that though, whats all this about Voldemort under the water dish? btw I'm a new snake owner, 2 weeks and counting.

Re: Under the water...

it might be because the tank is to hot and he/she is going under the dish because its on the cold side of the tank and needs a hide over there, do you have multiple hides?

Re: Under the water...

Chase has a good point. They like to choose the hide that feels best to them, and apparently under the water dish seems like a good place to hide. I've had one do that; it is a little spooky at first!

Re: Under the water...

if you dont like him under the water dish move the substrate away from it and put it flat on the bottom of his enclosure
and if you dont already have a few hides you should move the water dish into the middle a little bitand put a hide all the way on the cold side
