Smile Grayband on eggs pic

With all the Python eggcitement around here thought I'd better make a Colubrid post. Round 1 is now done for the GBs. This girl "E" laid 14/14, "F" 7/7 (youngest/smallest), "B" 13/13 & "A" 0 or maybe 1/12 (slugged out for first time ever DOH!) must have "missed" her. 34 or 35 eggs "cooking" anyhow. "5th" female was sexed wrong, no eggs coming out of him So 3 good clutches cooking & hope to have 4 more from round 2. Mark

Re: Grayband on eggs pic

Congratulations Mark! That is awesome!! But what do those letters and numbers mean...my rookie herp is coming out....again!
My son says his favorite is still the CMK but also "close" seconds are Sinaloan Milks and GB's!
And, I also do know the person who purchased the CMK from you a while back. He too is extremely happy with the snake and you.
Keep up the great work.

Re: Grayband on eggs pic

THX well the letters don't mean anything snake wise, the girls don't have names just "letters" I started with A & have had 6 females over the years so A,B,C,D,E & F just to keep track of who is who etc. the "fractions" represent good eggs/total eggs. So 14/14 means 14 eggs total all fertile, not really an industry standard or anything just the way I do it. Something like 11/17 would be 17 eggs total 11 fertile & 6 infertile or "slugs". THX Mark
P.S. if buddy is looking for a male or wants to sell his female, mines all lonesome now & is my 2nd male so it would not be the father of his snake either.

Re: Grayband on eggs pic

Thanks Mark.
I will let him know. Because I did mention that you had said that you had a male. He did ask how old it was/is? And if it was a breeder. He is at one of the local pet stores and my son thinks he is "God"like. He has been another great source of information. I will probably see him tomorrow as we are in the midst of getting a red eye tree frog to somewhat quell my son's excitement for a CMK. Yes, I know, not really the same reptile but it makes his Mom happy. Cheers, Mike

Re: Grayband on eggs pic

I do have an Albino Blairs though Actually its 3/4 GB 1/4 Ruthveni, looks like a pure GB though. I'll make hets that will be 7/8 & breed them together/back to him for Albinos. Mark
