no milking, the less hands on the safer (3 of yesterdays vendors were recovering from bites), I keep species, venom type, emergency phone numbers, and map on both the inside and outside of the hot room, I ALWAYS use safety equipment, and the hospital knows what types of snakes I keep.

Hi Rev,
Very nice little gabby. However, the specimen in that pic is B.gabonica rhinoceros or the West African Gaboon viper. You can tell from the eye stripe. B.gabonica gabonica (East African Gaboon)will have two stripes coming down from the eye, one seeming to point twords the snout along with the one coming back from the eye along the cheek. West Africans have only one like yours, on the cheek. I hope this dosent throw a clitch in any breeding projects you had in mind.
Regardless, congrats on the new little leaf head:-)I havent moved into Bitis myself but definately see the fasination with these fattest of the vipers:-) Enjoy it!
All the best,
J

If i was experienced enough, and not frankly scared to death of a hot animal..the gaboon would be the top of my list..mainly for the same reasons that Sophia pointed out. In the meantime ill just admire yours and dream about them at night. Congrats by the way Rev..beautiful lil girl you have there
