i aws wanting to put a real tree in my boas cage is there any kind of tree i should avoid?

how big is the boa? well I don't know of a tree you should avoid, like chemical (pollen, or w/e) but I would have one with nice thick limbs if he is big so he doesn't just fall through them. but there could be a more educated person with trees that could help...

their not an aboreal species. my best suggestion would be to either make an easy to clean climbing thing ( some like to climb ) or use a fake tree..

to much work for a real one.. means lighting, possibly to much humidity. ect ect..

well it would be a lot of work for a real one but red-tail boas are arboreal at least semi-arboreal. they climb trees with a lot of frequency. at least in the wild

yes they do aften climb but there far from semi aboreal... there the scale pattern on a aboreal snake is alot different than a redtail.. they climb usually to warm up.. if your using a heat pad your snake will rarely climb..

you can use a tree but like i suggested your best bet by far is to just offer something to climb on. a peice of driftwood, a post, hell even some bamboo. you have to worry bout cleaning these things to, if offered even a ball python will climb. but in the wild they spend most of their time burrowed underground in abandoned ant hills.

I have no experience with snakes but i have used many live plants and trees in with my chameleons and geckos. my advice is make sure that you choose a plant that is non toxic and does not produce oils or saps (incase any plant matter is ingested and also saves work form cleaning sticky sap off animals). also if you choose a plant that is from the same type of enviromant as your boa then you don't care to worry about things like heat and humidity because the plant likes the same as the boa. lastly make sure you get your plants from a greenhouse that doesn't use pesticide and put the plant in the shower for awhile to wash it off. after doing that i have never had a problem. also there are many benefits to having live plants its makes an enclosure more interesting, your boa will possibly be more active, you'll get to observe new behaviours, the plant will help keep up humidity. I have the brownest thumb in the world but all my plants that are in with my animal grow much better than any other of my house plants and so what you gotta pick up a couple of leaves now and then its worth the effort. I assume you probably check up on your snake a couple of times a day atleast a plant needs no where near that much care so it will grow great with all that extra attention.
