yes they do aften climb but there far from semi aboreal... there the scale pattern on a aboreal snake is alot different than a redtail.. they climb usually to warm up.. if your using a heat pad your snake will rarely climb..
you can use a tree but like i suggested your best bet by far is to just offer something to climb on. a peice of driftwood, a post, hell even some bamboo. you have to worry bout cleaning these things to, if offered even a ball python will climb. but in the wild they spend most of their time burrowed underground in abandoned ant hills.
