Thermostat question

Has anyone ever used a household programmable thermostat for heating flexwatt ? i'd like to do it as i can get a discount on them and they are much cheaper than the ones sold in the trade. and they look nicer. if anybody knows i'd be much obbliged if you could give some advice. thanks. These in Canada are for a different Class of electricity ie. low voltage, and cannot be used to control power circuits. Sorry!

You will have to use a transformer to make it work and you will only be able to use it to control ambient temps as they do not have a probe.. Using a thermostat with a probe is really where you need to be...

You can get 120V thermostats that work with regular voltage circuits. They are everywhere. Of course they will work. Only problem is, like Justcage said, they have no probe, so how are ya going to regulate heat???

Fair enough guys. i'll drop the cash for aanother good one. i was just curious. i'm not an expert on thermostats.
