Your main problem is his only eating live rats. Rats have a painful bite and can be very dangerous to the snake. He should be switched to frozen/thawed food or fresh-killed food. Burms are generally good feeders so this shouldn't be much of a problem; just get a frozen rat really warm (100F-150F) and wave it in front of him. It may not work the first time but eventually he should strike at it; if not then look around the Internet for some info on scenting and other tricks or post here again.

Burms can be fed any number of different mammals. Generally rats for smaller burms and rabbits for larger burms. Feed him rats until it they seem to be too small then move up to rabbits or guinea pigs.

best way to get him to eat is toss in the f/t or f/k rat, turn the lights off, and leave him alone overnight. if he doesn't eat wait 5 days and try again. i use a rubbermaid tub to feed all my boas (shoe boxes for juvi's) just so they dont get used to associating my hand in their cage with diner. that could be a little tough with a burm tho.

soon your going to have to swich to rabbits 2x month. your def going to want him to be used to eating f/k or f/t by then. you ever heard a rabbit scream?
