are the flourescent lights in hardware stores the same as the lights exo-terra or one of those companies makes? just a stupid random question i guess...cuz if they are it'll same me money on new setups lol :thumbsup:

They are not the same as the composition of the phosphor coating is different. Though the gas inside the tube emits UV light, the use of phosphor blends (it's a closely guarded recipe) coating the inner tube absorbs the UV and emits light (fluorese) in a color spectrum that sometimes is printed on the package.

When it comes to niche market/speciality lights, they will cost more $$$ than "mass market" lights.
