tech question re: "New Posts"

Hey admin/mod type people (if such people actually exist)...

When I come to the main page, I see a thing that says "85 New Posts". When I click on new posts, I get a topic list and it says "1-25 of 43". What happened to the other 42 new posts? This happens every time. Is the New Post count on my main page wrong, or am I missing good stuff along the way. I almost exclusively use the new posts feature to read the forums so I'd really like ot know if it's broken.

I don't know how much help I will be, since I neve use that feature. I just clicked it now and it gave me 1-18 of 18 new posts. Is there an option anywhere near the bottom of the page to view a second page when the amount of new posts exceeds the default display amount? That's how it worked under the old format, I recall.

There might have been 43 new posts, but maybe they were in 25 or so threads so it only shows 25 entries. There's also the 'page 1,2' link at the bottom like Linds mentioned.
