My wife went all out for one of our GTP's since we use them as a display animal. The enclosure has rock at the bottom to hold water, soil on top of that with live plants, all of which are non-toxic to the snake. Its all heated with a thermostat linked to heat cable under the soil. There is even a fogger inside the cage to really wow people, hey it was free at one of the conventions.
although i usually prefer nice and simple enclosures
All of our breeders are in nice simple enclosures. He/She is a pet and not a breeder so my wife goes all out on when it comes to putting an enclosure together.
I can't wait to see what she does for the burms when they get bigger.
It is heated with heat cable down through the back and under the top layer of soil. It is plugged into a thermostat.
Humidity is provided by a layer of rock under the soil that is filled with water. Which waters the plants. This also lets the water evaporate and hit the top and rain back down watering the plants as well. There is also a fogger in there to wow company when they come over which also helps. We also covered the screen top with a layer of clear vinyl to help hold in humidity.

It depends on the snake. Both of the ones we have were really bad when we first got them. This guy/gal has really calmed down and can be handled.
I have no idea about the UK.
