Burm's enclosure

I'm going to be building a new enclosure for my burms and was just wondering if I build it big enough will it be okay to house more than one burm together, by the way I have a male and a female, or would it be better to keep them apart

If you build it big enough, yes you can house more then one. Some people feel that having one per enclosure is best others prefer them together.

I pesonally wouldn't unless ure goal it baby burms .. If there of mature age, even without cooling the chances are fairly high ...

What is there size?

If there not mature, than sure go ahead but if they are, I would strongly advise against it .. htere is no marke for them, especially not in Ottawa...

1* You would have to separate them for feeding, and once they get sizeable it isn't a wise idea to be moving a 100+ lb animal thats in feeding mode around, not to mention putting them back together like that.

2* As forementioned, there is a possibility of them reproducing. Unless that's your plan you should avoid taking that risk.

3* It's very hard to monitor them individually. If one has regurgitates, etc. you have no way of telling which one it came from, and you won't be able to keep track of such things as defecation.

4* If one gets sick, so does the other.

5* Snakes are solitary animals, they oly come together in the wild for breeding. They aren't social. This should be taken into consideration.

Just a few things to think about before making the decision to house snakes together....

Exactly what Linds says. We used to have several Burms, and they were all kept individual enclosures.

Thanks for the advice....they are just juveniles at the moment but I think I will build seperate enclosures ......once again thanks for the info
