Spring Herping in Ontario

Went out a couple of days ago and found that the salamanders were out and about even though there was still considerable ice on the ponds. Two Ambystoma maculatum were found (one normal and one black). Several members of the Ambystoma laterale-jeffersonianum complex were also found (at least that's what I believe they were since they were too large to be normal laterale).

And here's some more spring pics for your enjoyment.

Gotta love that spring!

Matt
