hog nose snakes

hi everyone,

i have a chance of buying 4 2 yr old hog nose snakes (1.3) with a 90 gal tank,lamp,heater rocks ,dishes ect
my question is this a good price, $200.00 and also ive never owned a hog nose can anyone here who has tell me about them. also from the pic it looks like he has them all in 1 tank ,is this recommended? cause all my other reps are all in seperate tanks.

I agree that the snakes would probably do better in separate set ups. So figure into the price the cost of 4 tubs or tanks (maybe you can sell the 90 gallon or use it for something else and that will help make up the difference). Also figure in that those heat rocks will have to go. I just don't trust them with snakes, though I used them many years ago when I didn't know better. If the lamps don't maintain the correct temps in the new enclosures, you may want to look into under tank heating.
With all that taken into account, what kind of Hognose are they? Western? Eastern? Something else? The price is good for Westerns, if they are healthy and feeding in my opionion.

WOW those guys look kinda small for 2 yr olds......mune are just over two and could eat those guys no joke.......BUT 200 is a good deal, I got my red pair for 120.............Hognoses are awesome. would get that deal, but you def. have to seperate them, they will eat better, and be happy snakes if you do.

I have had my pair for over a year now and wouldnt trade them for anything, I love em, they are so much fun and their personalities are hilarious good luck.

BTW those are westerns, Easterns have way more color and southerns are alot darker.................

I agree they look a little small, but if that's a pic in the corner of a 90 gallon tank, then they aren't that small... Once you get them separated, they may start feeding better and you'll see more growth out of them.
If you like Western Hognoses, then the deal sounds like a good one. I've been really pleased with my pair- they're really funny little snakes. Very unlike the rat snakes or king snakes that I'm more used to. Cute little bluffers!

i just got real scoop. the 3 females are 1 yrs old and the male is almost 2 yrs old
he said they are very good eaters so i do think im gonna pick them up

my 2 yr old male is just about 16 inches long. He has refused more than his fair share of meals though.

200 for everything, say about 250 for sepearate setups and such, and use the tank for something else!

just remembered, when you get them seperated, put em on aspen, thats what I use, my guys love it cause they can dig tunnels and neat netwroks, its awesome they duck down one hole and pop out on the other side of the tank ina few seconds its really cool.

You know those guys eat mostly Frogs... That's hard to get a stock of...

Western Hognoses will eat mice readily, so finding frogs shouldn't be an issue. Occasionally hatchlings can be a little tricky to get feeding and may require scenting with fish (on mice pinks), but once they start eating mice, they will eat them the rest of their lives.
Easterns are more of the frog/toad eaters, though some people have successfully switched theirs to mice also.
