Talking New chams! B. decaryi!

Well, I haven't posted for a while, I couldn't keep up with so many forums, but I'm back! For a bit anyways. A few weeks I came accross a VERY good petshop. Called Animalia, located in Peterborough. These guys take awesome care of their chams. All chams were in screened cages, and logs were taken daily or every other day on how they were doing. The owner is an awesome guy and sells only the healthiest livestock. I remembered a while ago going in and seeing some brooks in there. So I called back, and he mentioned I just got a shipment of b. decaryi. Lol, you can bet I jumped on those! I grabbed a male and female (judging soley by the hemipenal bulge and width of the base of the tail). They are doing AWESOME. Eating and drinking like littles piggies, and very healthy, and have already passed deworming. Here are some pics of them, and one of the setup! (29 gal long tank, 4" coconut fibre, all live plants).

Cage

Female

Male

Both (Female Smaller)

Enjoy!

Those are two of the sexiest chams I've seen.

Good on you man.

Gah I was offered an established trio of those for 150$ when I first started keeping reptiles. I turned them down because I didn't think I could keep them properly being so new at keeping reptiles, but I sure would like to get some now that I know so much. Where'd you get them and do you mind if I ask how much you paid?
If you're breeding them, put my name on the list.

lol roo thats too funny.
And brock congradulations on your mature move to not take something that you don't know how to look after. Especially at that low of a price. I wish there were more people like you out there. Awsome.

peace

Haha, geese, I didn't know my GORGIOUS, BUEATIFUL, chams would cause such a ruckus! Lmao, jokes. Okay, I'm done rubbing it in. :P

$150 for a trio?! Wow! I paid $99 each for these guys, and worth every penny. The place I got them from is Animalia in Peterborough. They don't have any left, but might be able to get more in.

Hey roo, WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR rh. nchisiensis?! Lol, I've been looking for those! :P

Lol, I am REALLY hoping to breed these guys, I will post if or when eggs are laid. I will definitely be keeping at least one of the babies, possibly the entire first clutch, not sure, but if she lays a full clutch (5 eggs) I would be glad to sell them to a good home. But uh, I will warn you, they will be cb, so the price won't be what I paid for them. I might even consider a trade, but for now, I'll concentrate on keeping the cuties healthy.

I got them from a vendor on the kingsnake.com classifieds. He is the only one there selling them. I would avoid getting them only b/c they are so hard to ID. They look so much like uluguruensis. So who knows what you would be getting. Both species have the blue eye turrets so that’s not a reliable way to ID them. Basically I don’t know what I have which bothers me. The decaryi aren’t completely out of the picture for me – they may still come in but I am not holding my breath.

Even still, rh. uluguruensis or rh. nchisiensis, they are both awesome IMHO!!!

I really hope you get a chance to keep some of these! Let me know if you get some!
