Mini Pot Bellied Pig
Well my pc still isn't working so I haven't gotten to get on here much. Just though I'd let everyone know I bought a miniture pot bellied pig. She's about 6 weeks old and only been weined for about a week. She's so cute my girl friend loves her. She's the one that wanted her. I bought her from the only breeder in mile from me and I was very pleased her dad is about 50 lbs solid muscle and her mom is a bit heavier. She's still very shy but she likes to snuggle but is still jumpy about fast movements. Anyone else ever owned one? They are thee' most adorable pets I like them alot better than dogs except for the being skittish at first part.
I spent about $300 for the pig, a LARGE dog crate for when I'm not home, litter box (rubbermaid), food, dishes, tons of toys etc.

Pot bellies are great pets.I had two when I lived in the country but had to give them up when I moved to town. I got Pumba when she was a baby, she was litter trained then learned to go out with the dogs. She had her own sleepng bag and slept under my bed, walked on a harness and always went garage saleing with me.Winnie was a full grown spayed female who needed a home.I sorta ran a small rescue for them and a babysitting service. Are you going to have her spayed?I could go on forever with piggy stories but I don't want to ramble on but I do recommend the spaying. Winnie was much calmer of the two. Enjoy your new little piggy,

My sister-in-law has one, Hubert is his name and he has his own room that has a runway to a fenced yard. She has had him for about ten years. He sits for a hard candy or a sip of pop. He will knock you down for your popsicle. He is realy cute. One note of caution, if they start clucking or poping his jaw, watch your hands and feet, they do bite and quite hard. Other than that she thinks he is the best pet that they have.

we had three of them.. one male and two females they were great always happy to see you and give kisses.
We use to breed them the babies are so small and cute. They just passed on about 2 years ago they are great little guys. Stilling thinking of getting back into them. Always enjoyed seeing them playing in the tall grass and laying in the sun.

My family bred Pot Bellied Pigs twice. :P We weren't like pig farmers though LOL
We had a female named Rosebud who we raised from a baby. She was potty trained and lived in the house while she was a baby. She QUICKLY learned tricks and to come when called.
I say most have to be outside for a good portion of time. Rosebud spent 95% of her time outside once she reached adult size. She had a large doghouse but no fence as she nevber left the house. On hotter days she would either lay in the mud or come lay down flat on the driveway and my Dad would put the hose at the top and let the water run down. She loved that!
She had two litters of babies with a friends male and they were super cool!
These pigs are far more work than a dog though and more intelligent in some cases. They can also get overweight quickly and be stubborn.
Congrats on your new pig! Pics!

Well I finally got my pc back up and running so I should have pics very soon. I have pics the original owner gave me off her website but I dunno if I should post them or not being that they are not my pictures.
I am definatly going to have her spayed. I've got a vet appt. this week and will probalby get he spayed after 2-3 months of age as the book I read reccomends. I want to breed her but the breeder sayed if she finds out I'm selling them she will take the pig back which I don't want however I didn't fill out any legal documents at all stating this so this would basicly just make a bad relationship between the breeder and I which I don't want either. However I would love to breed these little guys some day I guess I just can't do it right away.
Life span really sucks though I already though about the fact that she might only live to 10 which depresses me already as she's so cute and active but not as much so as a dog, and she's already very intelligent other than the fact she sleeps in the litter box.... Daily cleaning as you can imagine...

Also they only get about 30-60 lbs usually about 12 inches in height and length, however they can get as low as 20 and as high as 90 but the vietnamese usually stay in the 30-60 range.
