Need help to id lizard I found

My friend found this little guy at work and called me beacause he knew I had an empty lizard set up. He wasn't in a safe place where he was found and I said I'd take him in and do what I could for him. I thought maybe some type of gecko but don't really know. Any help would be great so I can research his specific needs. thanks

We live in South Carolina. He was found in a boiler factory. He's only about 1". I'm sure he's not a normal South Carolina lizard. I figure he must be an escaped offspring from someone's pet.

So It seems to be a Mediterranean gecko. I did some research and that seems to be right. Thanks. does anyone know if it's a good idea to keep a wild caught gecko like this? Any care tips? What can I feed a lizard this small? He couldn't eat a cricket yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try 1 or 2 week old crickets, I'm sure it could eat a 1 week..(??) if not the I've heard that you feed them fruitflies for very tiny geckos (?? correct?)

If it is in fact a newborn from someones pet its also possible that its captive bred or has such roots so being only 1'' it should have plenty of time to adjust to being tame.

I was just looking at range maps and they are in your range so I guarantee it is not captive bred.
