ENORMOUS Crotalus Atrox

Hey all,
A friend sent me this picture of an 8 ft. 76 pound Western Diamondback. You can see the weight is bending the hook.
I dont like how proud the redneck looks for gaffing the snake though.

Comments Plz

that is incredibly sad to see such a magnificent animal killed. at least we can assume that because of its size it lived pretty long and probably produced offspring, so its not completely gone from the gene pool. ive only ever seen 2 others that came anywhere near that size, tho they werent measured so i dont know how close.

You sure it was killed? Cause he is holding him with the hooks that have pliers at the end.

Siretsap, you may be right.
At first i thought it looked to be penetrating the snake. But his R hand is definately squeezing.

The shape the snake is in, seems to be fed quite often, prob not something you would see in the wild. I think it's his pet...

Considering the depth perception and the such, I highly doubt the animal is eight foot, much less 75 pounds. I would maybe say this beast is banking around 6 foot.Zane

If the snake weren't alive, I think that it'd be hanging in more of a straight line 'limp' position.

WOW, either way, that is one helluva snake!

I may question the 8 ft, but its bigger than six for sure, I believe the weight also. Have caught many Eastern D.Back in the 7 foot 65-80 lb range, and he looks comparable to them, though hes an enormous Western.
But I dont know for sure without being there.

There's no way the snake is 76lbs...

8' boas don't even weigh that much

That snake is being held with a grabber (like the ones Mark O'Shea uses). At least that what it appears to be.

It looks like photoshop to me, and a poor job at that. where is the bottom jaw of that animal grabber.

That image isn't photoshopped. The angle of the pic doesn't allow you to see the other jaw of the grabber...

Edit: I think if you look really, really carefully, you can see a bit of it...
