im moving so what do i do..

ok because of some recent financial troubles my family and i are moving..

now the enclosures arent that big of a deal.. i can move thoes without even takin all the stuff out.. my problem is the herps..

granted i dont have alot but i dont know what to do with what i have..

i have

2 leos ( should i move them in 1 container or 2)
1 banded gecko
1 Veild cham ( that i cannot touch.)

my big problem is the cham seeing as i cannot touch him and stuff..

now what i need to know is what should i use to ship them in and if the weather is still cold ( which it probably will be) what should i use for heat..

i was thinking rubbermaids but wasnt sure then stryofoam but still not sure..

but i thought putting the 2 leos in seperate containers and putting the containers in a stryo box with a heat pack might keep enough heat..

and the banded is tiny so thats not a big deal...

but i really need to know what i should do to move these things, espically the chameleon...

for the cham.. what kind of container, what should be in it.. ect ect..

so please if you can offer any help please do.. and sorry for the rambling im just really upset cause ive lived in this house for years and i love it.. i dont want to leave but i have to.. that and i dont know where im gonna live.. ill have someone where to go i juts dot know where. wether it be my own place or my parrents buyin a house or renting.. i just dont know

Do you actually have to SHIP the reptiles to your new home?

If it's just travelling by car, I use shoeboxes for my chameleon and deli cups for my other babies.

If you're actually shipping I could invest some time into finding a good carrier, as I'm sure you care about your animals. Look up Tony's (Boas_N_Pythons) post on shipping snakes, it's the most complete guide I've seen, and it can be applied to lizards. I'll look it up and edit it in in a second. People ship those kinds of animals everyday, it should be fine.

As to your question about the geckos I would ship them seperately, but I don't see anything catastrophic happening if you don't. Just IMO.

I know how you're feeling, moving houses can be crappy. I moved from a tiny little town where I knew everyone, to Ottawa which is huge and I'm pretty sure has a funny smell that I'm used to now :flick: Starting out in a new place has some really cool benefits though. In 2-5 years my parents are kicking me out and moving to Arizona, and while I'm expected to have moved out by that time and don't get to go, I can't wait to visit and go herping down there

no i dont have to ship ill be taking them with me so.. i just want to know what to put them in for the travel.. should there be things for the cham to grip onto .. and i dont know if were moving far.. i really dont know where im going.. i may be getting an apartment someone near a subway line in toronto seeing as im going to college in sept...

what should be done for heat.. is the heat packs a good idea..

If you're just taking them with you, hot water bottles wrapped in a pillow case or towel should suffice. Put the animals in suitably sized rubbermaids or similar containers, and then put both the rubbermaids and hot water bottle within a styrofoam tropical fish box (ask for one at a pet store), a cooler, or any other reasonably insulated box. Put the hot water beside the animal containers, not underneath it, to avoid the animals getting too hot.

As Jeff said; be sure to keep a form of heat with them at all times. Hot water bottles would do great, if you are traveling a long distance be sure to refill them on occasions to keep your herps warm. Take Care.
