differences of BCI, BCC, ect

got no response in the general forum, lets try here.
Can anyone direct me to a reliable source, link, whatever, as to the identification of the various boas?
Ive read many oppinions on line, and most conflict with one another.
I thought scale counts were the definative factor in snake ID.
Has this changed?
one site says my BCC, (by there chart), can be a BCI or
BCOcc by Ventral count, or BCC, BC melanogaster, or bc Occ if I go with Midbody scales.

I know mine is BCC, her mom and dad both coming from about 75 miles north of Iquitos, north of the Amazon River, just south of the Columbian border in 1990, or so, but the info used to be more precise, with less overlapping of possibilities, so Im looking for a reliable source.
Can anyone help?

The boa constrictor manual and the living boas are the two best books I've seen that explain the difference between the two. It boils down to where they live and scale counts.

Thanks Trevor. Will look into those books for sure, the stuff I have is as old as I am, or older. I better get with the times.
Its the stuff Ive been reading online about there "locale" that really cornfused me. stating you'll only find one on this side of the border, and not the other side 10 miles away.
Wonder who told the snakes?

The boa constrictor manual says colombian red tails are BCC, I thought they were BCI....

Thats what I was saying above. who told the snake he could or couldnt go to Columbia? I know guerrillas are tuff, but......LOL

There are both Colombian BCC and Colombian BCI. They are seperated by the Andes.(SP)

is it true than what ive read about BCI being able to handle high elevations easily?

Boy I don't think I should have started reading all the posts about redtail and redtailed. Now I'm not sure what I have. When full grown is there a difference between size and "persona;ity" between the two? At what age can you really tell them apart? I was told that I purchased a true BCC now I don't know what to think.

Can you post pics. Count the sadles, 21 or more BCI, less then 21 BCC. Also next time it sheds you can count the ventral scales.

boidkeeper- is couting saddles a 100% reliable way to tell if its a bci or bcc? just wondering

I don't think so. I think scale counting would be best. The problem is if you have a cross, let's say between a Colombian and Suriname how many saddles would there be in that case? Scale counting is always best. If you look in the boa constrictor manual there are two pics of Colombian BCI and they look nothing a like but the saddles and scale counts are the same. Then you turn to the next page and there is an awesome pic of Colombian BCC. By far my favorite BCC. In my opinion it's nicer than a Peruvian.

thx for verifying that for me trevor i didnt think that it was a very dependable way to tell but i wasnt sure.
