Question Desiring a Blood of my own.

Ever since spying my first blood python I've wanted one.

No. That's not quite right... I've craved one!

I've got a Ball Python that was recued from horrible conditions and has grown into being a favorite family member. Critter's name is "Sneaky". (Go ask my 3 yr. old daughter...) I also have a red-tail we bought as a sick hatchling from a bad breeder and have nursed back to health from near death. It is eating voraciously and may finally start growing. That one is "Midgard".

But it is a Blood I desire more than any. A healthy, well-bred, red-as-possible, blood python!

Here's the thing... I need more info. Mainly, who is a reputable breeder in the US? Preferably in the Southern US. (I live in Mobile, AL) Also, I've read of some terms like "High Reds". Could someone explain further?

Thanks!!!

Talk to Kara Glasgow of NERD. She has some of the sweetest Reds you'll see.

*edited to add link* Available Bloods

Keep in mind that their color changes as they grow and these are still very young.

I just watched the video of the violent blood in that other thread. Impressive. But not scary... I've been bit twice by Copperheads in the wild. Non-venomous bites, even big ones lost their scariness ater that. (No, I wasn't handling hot snakes! One bite through the jeans and the other through a canvas boot.)

But it does bring up another question, though it concerns my boa - and I'll post it there too.

My BCI is eating well. BUT, she's acting odd about it. I'm feeding her two hoppers once a week. On her first kill she is quick and efficent. But on her second she will strike, kill, then release. Moments later she will strike the still very dead mouse and constrict it again. Tonight she "killed" the same mouse 4 times before swallowing it.

What's up with that???

Then, dummy here stuck his hand in the box to move her back to her enclosure withoutwashing my hands first - having just dropped a rat to my BP - and got tagged on the finger. Entirely my fault.
