Congrats..The Govenor has called....
Ok please tell me I am not alone, having done this.
I bought a few fuzzie rat pups for my BP. He eats a couple. Now I have 2 left. The tiniest one, is not fully weaned..so I do some research on the net a before I know it am a NEW mom.
(Call me Mr. Mom)
Now having nursed this little guy and keep him warm..I cannot bare to give him to my snake.
So now I officially have a PET rat. OMG.
"I will love him, and hug him and call him George!!!

Hehe,
It's happened to me before with mice, they are just so darned cute when small and after taking care of them it gets a bit hard to just feed them away. I ended up keeping my mouse and it's one of my breeders now. I still feel guilty taking the babies away for food but I learned how to stomack it...

I Actually Like rats myself. But I like cows too. Doesn't stop me from eating them. My rats just had their first litter and I am going to keep one of the males. I've already got him picked out.
He is going to be my male for most of my breeders. They make great pets. They are smart about as smart as ferrets, but not very long lived. Congrats on your new pal.

I always feel bad putting my rat's babies in the freezer....She just had a litter and I think I'm gonna keep a female from it, although I need another animal like I need a hole in the head.

Another funnny thing I have noticed:
I HATE the white, red-eyed rats. I absolutely hate them. the red eyes freak me out. LOL
I love the brown/black ones with white feet.
I find it weird that as humans we find likes and dislikes in almost everything we do.

that is probably why I would LOVE to find a black eye-eyed albino ball python (DROOLLLLL), even thou I love the regular albinos.
