Microsoft Word and Photoshop
Hey
I just got a new computer and have Windows Home Edition XP, and I cant find a Mircosoft Word to do my homework, all I found was Word Pad, no spelling correction etc. Do you only get Mircosoft Word in Professional? If so what do you think I should do? Get MS Word just by it self and load it?
Also can anyone suggest a free photoshop?
Thanks,
Meow

Word does not come with Windows, it is part of Microsoft Office. There are no free Photoshops, unless you mean pirated and this forum is probably not the place to solicit illegal advice.

Windows doesn't come with the office applications (word, excel, power point...).
You should check on your receipt or on the computer specs tyou bought to make sure that office isn't mentioned anywhere. I would find it odd that a company sells you a pc without office installed on it (unless they forgot to install it, or it's on a cd you haven't yet installed).
If it doesn't mention anywhere that there is office installed, then you might have to buy the software or get someone to make you a copy of his (I am not promoting illegal copying of programs, but if both of you don't use the program at the same time, you are allowed to install the software on many pc's).
I would not recommand doing your homeworks on note pad, cause you cannot make any layouts and there is no correction program on it (not to mention how your teacher would react if you hand her the work in a word pad format).

There might be demos or incomplete trial versions available for free, I'm not sure. I know the complete version is quite expensive.
All the computers that I've ever purchased did not have Office installed. I had to purchase it separately. I purchase my computer products from Queen's University where I get an Alumnus discount. I believe I paid $100 for Microsoft Office 2003, because it is licensed through the University. It is quite expensive when purchased privately I believe, but there is a cheaper student and teacher edition.
Cheers,
Ryan

MEOW:
Like the rest said not available with new computers or free software packages. There is a ton of it free in places on the net, but at times some of it is not the actual files and might be encrypted with viruses. Depending where you got your computer sometimes they can help you get a decent version with a legit registration. It can' t hurt to ask, best of luck.

meow, are you referring to any generic photo editing sorftware as photoshop, or are you looking for Adobe Photoshop?
your computer will have come with a generic microsoft photoediting software which is quite sufficient for most things that you'd need as far as cleaning up photos for posting, for example, on ssnakess.com
however I dont' know what you m eant or if you need the true full capabilities of photoshop...I have the legit version of photoshop 7.0 and it was not cheap...that's for sure
