Two weeks later. Can you see a difference?
I took these pics in the same place with the same camera and the same light.
She still has a long way to go but I think I can see a difference in her colour.
Day of arrival,
Two weeks later,
This rescue story may not have a happy ending I'm affraid. Although I found a buyer for it for $350 and I'm still willing to take it to the vet the owners have decided they are coming to pick it up today. They say that it is their responsibility and that they are going to take it to the vet and build it a cage. I hope the vet appointment is made and the cage is at home waiting but I have my doubts. I'm going to ask them if those things are in place and if their not I'll offer to continue to care for it until they are and then I'll take it back myself.
I'd buy it from them and then resell it once it's 100% healthy but I just don't have the cash right now.
This totally sucks because I'm affraid I might be sending it to its death.
Thanks for listening,
Trevor

Yeah, does look fantastic. Expecially for only two weeks, when i cared for a injured gopher tortoise it took awhile to show any signs like that. But it looks great, aswell as it looks like it has much more strength. Best of luck, jason

Thanks for the support guys. They were suposed to be here at around 12ish and at 12:40 they still weren't here and we had some where to be so we went out. Sure enough we missed them. So now I have at least 1 more week with the Tortoise. They told me to let them know if I find a buyer between now and then. If it wouldn't result in me needed to be rescued from my wife I would buy it myself.
The owner told me the cage still wasn't finished so I offered them the 6x4 cage I built for free as long as they can get it to their place. So now they have another week to get their stuff together and I have another week to either find a buyer that will take her now or take her myself and start treatment. She was suposed to go to the vet this week but when he said he was coming for her I decided to wait because I didnt' want to go spend money on drugs and then hand them over too not knowing if they would be used or not, or used correctly.
What to do what to do.
Thanks again,
Trevor

Honestly it sounds like at the very least they are flakes.
Maybe the tort and you will both get lucky, and they will just end up never showing in person to pick it up. Then you could keep it for awhile longer, and try to sell. In fact, I would dodge them a little bit myself. LOL.
Anyways, how big is she? I must have missed it if you mentioned her size.

They did show up today but I was gone. I told them I would take it to them next Sat. Dumb I know but it's not mine.
When she first arrived I weighed her and she was over 9lbs. I'm going to weigh her again tonight.
Thanks,
Trevor

Thank you thank you thank you!
Great news! Someone just called me about an hour ago and is going to rescue this tort! I don't know if they want to be named or not so for now I'll not name them just to be sure.
Here's what happened. I was online talking to the owner of the tort confirming that the cage had not been built yet and that no appointment with a vet had been made when my phone rings. I answer the phone to this question, "What are we going to do about that tortoise?" After a bit of conversation it was decided that I would call the owner and offer them $300 for it. And then call this Godsend back with the answer. Someone else had offered to buy it earlier in the week but only in the spring. They wanted to take it back until that person was ready. I called them with this new offer and they said that it was still $350. I called the person back who called to help and they are putting the money into my account on Wednesday.
Neither of us are tortoise people but as it stands now I'll care for it and take it to the vet and the other person is putting up the cash to make sure it never goes back there ever again.
I'm so happy that there are still some good people in the world. I don't care who you are, $300 is not peanuts. This person doesn't even live in my province nor have they ever met me in person. They know about this situation because of this website and from talking to me on the phone. They have total trust in me that I'm doing what I can for this tort and they have stepped up to help. If they want to remain quiet I can't blame them because I wouldn't want people to expect them to do this every time someone gets stuck with a sick herp. Whether it's because they know me and trust me to do the right thing or whether it's just because this tort needs a second chance, they are an amazing person to just hand over $300 dollars and say just keep the tort out of their hands.
So to the person who has stepped up to save this tort I'd like to say thank you publicly. You know who you are and I just wanted to say thank you so much you have no idea how much better I'm going to sleep tonight.
Thanks,
Trevor

Me too! Not knowing if it was being taken back or not I canceled the vet appointment but now that I know it's not going anywhere I can take it in and get treatment started on for it's RI.
Cheers,
Trevor
