Talking I'm back! With news!

You may remember me writing a while back about a hatchling BCI that I had with a very bad RI and eventually damaged tail.

We thought the wee one, (Midgard), was a goner.

I'm happy to report that with good love and care the beastie is doing great! Fully healed, completely cured, gaining weight and growing longer - and she's still a sweetie!

We also rescued an adult Ball Python with an odd stripe down her back. The "owners" thought the snake was venomous but kept it as a "scare-tactic". They only handled her with a shovel and rake. Because of such handling she was badly cut up. All her wounds are healed now and she lives happily in our bedroom now with her own treestump to curl up in and feel safe. Rumor had it that she had even been fed kittens by the previous owner as well as field rats and house mice. The vet that helped us with Midgard gave "Sneaky" a clean bill of health and advice on the wounds. With our experience with Midgard's cuts we did ok. Now the Python is a welcome member of our home - and a loving pet. Turns out that even after such bad treatment, the Ball is quite calm and to date has never struck at a human.

I'll upload pics of her later, and her entire story, in the proper forum.

It was advice from the guys here that allowed me the knowledge and willingness to fight for the boa and that helped with the python as well.

(Oh! Took in two geckos as well!)

Thanks!

Yeah, they are all doing great. The ball python is constantly hungry eating an adult rat weekly. Seems like a lot to me, but she is hunting her enclosure even as I type this. I've not weighed her but she measures 3 ft 8 inches and is rather "girthy". I wonder if she is too fat?

The geckos are just too cool. I seldom sleep so watching them in their nocturnal activities is fun.

I must have been too tired last night because I forgot to mention the Bearded Dragon rescue. Someone had put this little female in with grown males and failed to feed them regularly. They turned cannibal. She is missing most of her tail, a few toes, and half of one front leg. A girl at the pet store my wife works at had saved it and healed the wounds but couldn't keep another so she gave the dragon to us. She's our daughters pet now. Her name is now "Melissa" and has her very own 40gal Critter Keeper with all the bells & whistles. She deserves a break.

I had to know.....

So I set up the postal scale and weighed the BP. 1113 grams and 3ft 8 inches in length.
