What width of heat tape do most use?

I think most people use the 4" and 11" heat tape..

But it also depends on what they are using it on.
For me i use the 4" on my racks, and i use the 11" on my bigger enclosures, like my 4 foot cages.

I had 4" and 11" in use, but now I exclusively use 4" for everything.

I dont use it much but id use 11 and 4 as well. Right now im only using 11 and its great for racks imo that are heated from the back. It covers two sections with 2 feet positioned horizontally.

If you're heating the rack from underneath id use 4 inch since its cheeper and you are going to need more.

3" is 10 watts per foot, and 4" is 8 watts per foot.

I would say 4" is the best bet out of the two.

I use 3" on my smaller cages and 10 gallons. Then 11" on the boaphiles and larger cages...
