My Mali won't come out!

I put my uro in a new tank I built for him two days ago. At first he was going around and checking everything out but within a couple of hours, he found a hiding spot and hasn't come out since. What can I do to lure him out to eat, usually when I put food in there, he is out in a flash, but it is not working and I don't want to pull him out. I am worried, can anyone help?

don't be worried, it's completely normal. Many reptiles, when placed in a new enclosure, will seek out a hiding spot until they feel comfortable with and adjusted to their environment. Your uro will come out when it feels ready, no worries. Also make sure that there is at least two hiding spots; one at the cool end and one at the hot end of the enclosure. Additional visual barriers could be added as well if you desire.

I agree. Leave him alone but make sure you're still putting fresh food in for him every day, and he'll come out when he's ready.
