reptile laws in alberta
i was just reading through another topic ( http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/showt...threadid=60137 ) and i didnt realize that there were places in canada where boas/pythons were illegal to own. this has me kind of worried because there is a very good possibility that i might be moving to alberta in the very near future.
i dont own any boas but i have 3 ball pythons and i plan to own many more of them. i just got a pastel and my normal female will be ready to breed with him next year and theres no way im giving up my BP collection.
ill most likely be moving somewhere near the calgary/black diamond area. does anyone from alberta have any info regarding this?
thanx
kris

If you contact TARAS (The Alberta Reptile and Amphibian Society), I'm sure the can send you a list of the restricted animals. As for your BP's, they are allowed.

Alright, here is what you cant have:
-Burms
-Rock Pythons
-Amethystine Pythons(Scrub Pythons)
-Retics
-Venemous
-Crocodilians
-Native species(unless CB with proof of purchase and must be bought from breeder out of province or country depending on species)
Some of that may be a little off or not exact, but I tried to generalize. HTH.

Don't forget there's quite a few colubrids restricted in Alberta.

Native species as well as species that just don't make sense to ban.

aren't water turtles banned as well? I remember going to the Calgary show a few years ago with a couple alligator snappers and getting an ear full from the event staff....
