Question Second hand vivariums???

Hi,(me againo>)
Is there anything wrong with buying second hand vivariums?
Would i have to steralize it if another snake has been in it?
If it was made from wood would the steralizing damage the wood in any way(mould?)?
Also could you tell me anything else that you think i should know about getting a second hand vivarium?
Thanks

I'd say it depends on the quality of construction and materials.

if it's glass? Pretty easy to clean... bleach solution does well as does Vinegar or hydrogen peroxide... Though since it's second hand you probably want to clean it well then sterilize it.

Wood can be more problematic unless it's been well sealed. If it has been then pretty much the same as glass. Though i'd not use bleach on a porous surface myself without VERY thoroughly rinsing it out afterward.

I'm actually going to be picking up one of those spray bottle steam cleaners to clean out rubbermaids and such around the house myself I think. Canadian Tire carries them now for like $50. If they work HALF as well as they seem to on the commercial I think it'll make tank cleaning a snap.

yes, with plastic resins. epoxies and poly resins are your best bet.
