I have been trying to feed my 6 foot BCI for the past hour. The rat is F/T. He takes it in his mouth and then lets it go and then moves around sniffs it for about 5 mins and then does it all over again. It's almost like the rat is too big for him but it's not since it's not even as fat as him. Anyone have any ideas?
It should eat it without a problem, just don't intervene. They are real odd sometimes...they'll drop the rat to find it's head when it's in their mouth.
Yea it is. I thought i'll give it a try because the prev owner told me that he never fed it, he only had it for a short time. I have had 2 other bci's and they both ate for me in the first 24 hours. Guess I shouldn't have high expectations.

i had the same thing happen to my young bci. he struck and constricted it(it was dead anyway but he always constricts it first) and then he let it go. i picked him up and the mouse fell out of his coils. then i put his head to the mouses head and he constricted it again. after that he decided to eat it. it was really weird behavior but he still does it every once in a while.
