Red foot torts... Sorry!

Hey guyses...

I have a friend that's looking into getting a red foot, and we've been trying to find how large they get. Unfortunately all the sources we find are conflicting... 18"-20"... smaller than that.. etc etc...

So basically, I just thought I'd ask from any of you guys that own adults... how large are they and how old are they now?

Thanks for any info guys...

KATE!!

18" to 20" is pretty big. Generally they don't get that big. Usually around 15". Still a good size. They are a very out going species and a joy to own. I would totally recommend one if you have the room. TB

20" for a male is really stretching it. 18" for a female for that fact is a bit much. Females from what I have encountered tend to reach about 16", males being about 2-4" smaller.

We had a 17 year old male at my old work that was around 16". I've never encountered any old redfoots, but I've seen some pics of monster redfoots in magazines before.

The alrgest red foot I have ever lad eyes upon was at the Detroit zoo. In the amphibiville building, there is a walk in rainforest room, with a number of free range animals including but not limited to some assorted dart frogs, two tarantulas, a massive green iguana, and a HUGE red foot. I couldn't say exactly how large it was quantitatively, but it was without a doubt, much larger than 17 inches.
