Should I breed my rabbits?
I wasn't sure which forum to put this under because it involves feeders and ball pythons.
Okay, I have 2 pet dwarf rabbits, one male and the other female. I was thinking about breeding the two and feeding the babies to a baby ball python. Would that be okay or are pet dwarf rabbits too fatty for them? Also, if I were to feed them to the ball python, should I freeze the baby rabbits?
Thanks

The male is a Mini Lop Rabbit like the picture below:
And the other is like this one:
P.S. (These aren't them but close enough to pictures to what they look like)

No, I think you should let the buck do it for you. SadisticPsycho is right! lol Sorry man I had to.
But seriously, it is a risky thing to do because balls can get hooked on one thing and never want to eat anything else, they are picky eaters. I feed some of my balls that I've had for a few years rabbits and some new ones that I know are strong feeders. But these snakes were all on rats for a long time. If you do try I would advise that you do two things, feed it rats for a year first. Two make sure you have lots and lots of bunnies frozen to get you buy. What happens if all your ball wants to eat is rabbits and yours stop producing? Do you have another place where you can get them?
Cheers,
Trevor

OoO
I've never thought about that.... I guess I should just leave the rabbits alone. My female rabbit might get too stressed from the breeding.
I'll just feed it mice and rats then.
Thanks!

ever hear the saying "horny as a rabbit" 3 females 1 male turns into 100 rabbits in 6 months as you would be feeding BABY rabbits to your ball cut that number dramaticly and i am sure the litters in the dwarfs is smaller then your usual rabbits so then cut that number I say stick to the rats and breed rats way easier and much cheaper as they can also be found cheap right here on this site!... cost of rats vs smell, space time, etc you really don't save breeding in small quantity but you do know what conditions food etc your rats have been subject to. it's an undetermined situation here and all you can do is average out the replies to your post my opinion would seriously be breed some rats.

'Cookie'.. Just curious, where did you get your numbers from???? In six months, I believe rabbits will go into heat MAYBE twice. Average litter size is about 10 - 12 (Maybe Jayson or Christina can reply and clarify for us).
Also, i've never heard of that saying.. I've heard the other one though, but this isn't the place to repeat it..
As stated, Rabbits really do smell, unless you plan on cleaning them a couple times a week. Better to just stick to the rats..

when i was a kid i had a rabbit and baby sat another so i kept them together. Didnt know at the time that they were different sexes so you know what that led too. But anyways they produced 6 babies every month. (i baby sat for three months)

Female rabbits can produce litters every month. They don't "come into heat." They ovulate after being bred. Also... female bunnies have two uteruses and can be pregnant with two litters at the same time. (Note: This is VERY hard on the doe!)
When raising meat rabbits, it's usually common practice to wait two weeks after the female has given birth and then rebreed her. The size of the litter depends on the size of the female, how old she is, and whether it is her first litter or not.
Female rabbits can also reabsorb the fetuses if there is not enough food, or overcrowding.
Rabbits can smell ... but you can keep rabbits outside in hutches in a well sheltered area, protected from direct sun and rain and such, and they do well. Most breeders keep them in sheds or garages. If you keep them on a cement floor, you can just use the hose to clean out their mess.
Plus... if you have them on wire floors, their poop falls right through.... and rabbit poop makes GREAT fertilizer for gardens and such!
Take care

I wouldn't feed the snake my current rabbits, they're my pets and I'd never kill them but baby rabbits look liek little aliens.. (We had a barn rabbit breed with my male and they looked weird...)

Yeah, I have. And yes rabbits are horny. Right after they breed, they are ready to go again.

I've never heard that but like they say, "you learn someone new everyday".

I wouldn't do that to my poor female anyway.
My female has never breed before, she is very small... (I think too small..)
Well thanks everyone for all of your help!!

OK my numbers are fact,,, 3 females giving birth is aprox, 18 -24 siblings as i stated in my previous post 3 females 1 male as i presume you will buy the rabbits at BREEDING size and not babies themselfs of course you will be inbreeding on the second litter but lets say 6+3 females you already have your already at aprox 72 babies in 6 MONTHS ever hear this saying Matt?... "i did'nt pull these numbers out my ( Y ) .... lol and yes rabbits can be pregnant twice at the same time so can mice i have actualy had a rabbit have 1 baby and a week later have 7... it did'nt end there as 3 weeks later her second litter came the one that was bor alone was just freak accident or maybe just rejected who knows as HE was born blind and i fealt sorry for him and still have him. I got out of the rabbits though as you would find out unless you have space for this type of operation you will soon find yourself overwhelmed with rabbits.

I said that for a reason as I was merely asking where you got your numbers from.. I wasn't saying that you were wrong or that you pulled numbers out of your ***..
