i have a baby red tail. it is the most calm gentle snake i have ever dealt with even tho i havent dealt with too many. he is about 27 inches long and i am feeding him 1 medium to large mouse per week.is this enough or should i feed him more?
Hey,
I"m pretty sure everyone on here will say the same thing. Switch him over to f/t rats. At his/her age, you should be feeding about every 7 days. And the rat should be the same size (or a bit bigger) than the largest part of your snake
I honeslty don't think it matters if you switch them over or not. If u want to keep feeding him mice thats fine. I have never had a problem getting a boa to switch to rats from mice. For the most part they will take anything. They love to eat.
I've never had a problem getting my boas to eat mice or rats.. They'll take pretty much whatever I offer them..
Reticsrule: I generally feed my smaller boa's every 5-7 days.. However, with the babies I have from 04' I have been feeding them every 10-12 days and have noticed no difference in growth rate than any of my others that were fed every 5-7..
Yea, none of the boas I have had/have have ever given me problems switching to rats. His feeding schedule sounds fine. Whatever u feed should leave a lump for a few days.
