Different Types of Hypos in Corns

I borrowed these photos from a friend in the States.

These photos shows the difference in different hypo genes.

The regular Hypo has the dark stripes.
The Sunkissed is up top with the smooth light colors with no dark striping.
The Lava is the big one with no visible black

Closeups of their saddles. What a difference, especially between Lava versus the other two.

Belly shots, from top to bottom:
Lava
Sunkissed
Hypo

Hope this clearifies some questions about the different types of hypos....at least a bit~~

The hypo looks like my normal and the lava looks like my hypo motley.
I'm going to have to post some new pics of my normal with belly shots. What colour back ground do you recomend?
Cheers,
Trevor

All of those photos are hypos~
Just different types.
Hypo A ( regular hypo)
SUnkissed (Hypo B)
Lava (Hypo C)

The Lava can't be a motley as it does have checkered belly but the only thing is that the hypo influence does make it look a bit clean (as in plain belly patter) But if you look closely you can se that there are still patterns on the belly just a bit blurry because of the Hypo C affect on it~

If you were to take some photos I would recommand using light blue background color or natural back ground colors. Personally I think that these two are the best background colors for corns~~

Can you post a pic of a normal corn next to a normal hypo corn?

I'm not saying it's a motley. Just saying that the colour is the same as my hypo motley. I'll take pics of each and post them all, includeding pics of both together.

Trevor

Here is a pic of my normal(hypo?) I will have to try and prove it out. If I was to breed it to one of my snakes that are het for hypo or to a ghost would that prove it out?

I still have to take a new pic of my hypo motley. The one I have is over exposed and makes the snake look more red and brighter than it actually is.
Cheers,
Trevor

Here is my hypo motley. The flash is seriousely affecting this pic. This snake is red, but not this red. It still give you the idea though. In reality he looks like the lava pictured above.

What'd ya think?

Trev,

Your hypo motley looks like a normal (regular hypo a) motley to me. The lava hypo actually has a purplish tone and a waxy tone on it. Those pictures on the top have these 'greyish' colors on it, but in real life, they have a purplish tone in it. It really hard to see from the photos....the photos kind of shows as if those saddles are the reflection of a flash light (which there is a bit) but not much.

I don't really know how to describe the coloration that the lava hypo gives out......its a lot easier with the ultra hypo....but the lava hypo is really hard.....

The lava hypos look to me like the extreme hypo in hondurans - that silvery grey tone instead of black. Very distinctive and not at all like the washed out grey that regular hypos have. Easier to see the difference between the two kinds in hondos because they have such big areas of melanin compared with corns.

I had one youngster last year that several people told me was hypo because of his lack of black but he still had the dark lines down his body that indicate an overall melanin wash. In examining him more closely, what it appeared like was not that his black areas were lighter than normal (as in hypo) but that they were absent - no black rims around his saddles - a lot like the second pic from crimsonking. I wonder if snakes with this pattern are not really hypos but instead are from lines where the albino version is a sunglow - no white borders around the saddles - these guys just have the dark scales reduced in number rather than in actual melanin intensity.

Trevor - is that hypo motley the one that was the father of your clutch this year? Very pretty snake - too bad you didn't get any hypos from that clutch - would have been nice to see some that he produced.

Yes mary he is the one. I kept back one motley male that is coming along nicely. I'll post pics soon.
What do you guys think of the normal I posted? Some of said it looks hypo. I'll have to prove it out before calling it anything.
Cheers,
Trevor

Hum....
I would bet that your 'normal' is a hypo...kind of has the hypo looks in him.
But you're definitely right....
don't call him anything until you have proven him out to be a true 'hypo'~

In the mean time Simon I'm going to call him a darn nice, very bright normal with a reduction in black pigment compaired to most normal corns.lol

Trevor
