multiple eye caps

A friend has a BP with multiple unshed eyecaps. how would we go about removing them. He's tries mineral oil and upping the humidity but there may have already been one to many caps stuck already. The vets up here are very limited in thier herp experience. He's taking it in to get it looked at but if it doesnt work out how would one go about physically removing them.

I saw this on a snake show on tv once cause I had the same problem. It works awsome!

Use a small piece of masking tape, and put it over your finger so its nice and tight. Tape it to the eyecap really quickly and pull of at a bit of an angle. They eye caps come right off. I had 3 layers when I had to do that.

I asume that you snake is young, because mine was when I had to do it, and I dont run into the problem anymore.

Just be gentle and it works wonders!

i dunno, that tape method sounds a bit risky. i tend to soak the animal, and then, while it is restrained, gently remove the eyecap with a tweezers or the edge of my fingernail. that way you have more control and can be very gentle, and make sure that you are not damaging the surrounding scales or the eyeball itself. usually, multiple caps with come off together, but there have been times when i have had to remove them one at a time. when one of my pythons came to me, she looked like she'd never shed an eyecap in her life. it took a while, but i got them all off.

The tape method is waaaaay less risky than using any kind of small metal object near a snakes eyes. There is no way to harm the snake with tape.
Whatever rubs your rubarb I guess, but it wouldn't take much to poke an eye out.
