Hi everyone, I had said I would get these posted as soon as possible but have been busy but I just took a few minutes too get a couple pic's of the little guy, a couple are a bit blurry But nobodies perfect. Let me know what you think of him.

They are great, a bit snappy, he’s got me 2 twice but not very hard, more a glancing blow, I'm dreading the day he makes full contact.

AWWWWWWWWWW!!! And it looks teensy still!! I told my husband when we build our house im digging out a big pit in my reptile room for just such an inhabitant. Im really glad he is doing better, and thanks for finally sharing pics!

Great pics! I think they are awsome.
What's your set up like? I'd love to get one but I wouldn't know where to start for a proper set up. Other than you the only other person I know of in the province with them is Jean Claude Savoie the owner of reptile ocean in Campbelton. Have you ever been there?

Hey, Trevor, no I've never been there, I saw the one at the Moncton zoo not too long ago, other then that mines the only one I’ve seen. right now the set ups very very simple, but that because I just picked him up. he's in a large Rubbermaid with 2 inches of water kept above 85, with a large rock that I have never seen him use and a basking spot up over 100. I keep his water cleaned and feed him , at the size he is at now its not a challenging pet at all. I actually had too toss a larger cage because it was too big for him. He will grow though.

Colonel_SB, sorry missed your question, I think I’m leaning towards spike, I've always wanted a croc named spike lol. Not sure why just seemed like a good name.

Crocodilians don't need a basking site over 90F. 100+ is gonna be too hot.

Basking spots in the wild exceed 100F all the time .. I see no problem with it as long as it does not get too high and there is a heat gradient across the land so he can decide wich basking temp he prefers.. just my humble opinion..

Actually Paleosuchus tempatures dont exceed 100, and the cageing temp should be around 91 for a basking area and a cool area of about 76 there fine, water tempatures should be around 80. Maby they exceed 100 in some toher species but these species of crocodilian burrows a heck of allot an is not exposed to those kind of tempatures

Hi, I am aware that they are tolerant too lower temperatures, But While he is young I prefer higher temps, He has yet too use the basking spot, but There is no harm in it being available too him. As for water temps, 85 is what he was kept at from birth, and I it was suggested too me too keep it their by the previous owner. He seems Very happy in it, so I think he'll do ok.

The two species in the genus aren't huge baskers. But one reason that he may not be using the basking spot is because it is too hot.

I will be adjusting the enclosure too incorporate a second cooler basking area, and I will see how that goes. Thanks for the tip.
