Wandering garters *pics*

Snapshots of a trio of Thamnophis elegans vagrans we found during our recent camp trip at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. Was hoping to find some here as I have yet to see one this year. They seem to stay real close to the river system. True enough, these ones were found <100m from the shore of Lake Diefenbaker.

Nice, wide-striped male.

We did find another gravid female (with an infected eye) but didn't have the camera handy.

The ones around here always musk, but thats because you have to pry them off trees and out of grass.

Oh yea! Was nice to smell the familiar smell of BC. lol! We've had our fair share of garter musk while herping in BC. Never herped without a roll of paper towel and hand sanitizer! lol
