Exclamation Bp Help Please!!!

Hey everyone,

Today i went to my local petstore to check in some new shipments and unfortunately i saw an "impacted" bp. The manager sed that "it was born with some yolk that it didnt absorb and dried up in its stomach" and thats how it got impacted...i dont beleive that 1 bit, but anyways here is this poor baby bp just sitting in the back not eating, very thin (except for the impacted part) it looks like it ate a hard lumpy mouse. (If anyone has seen the "sausage adventure" on pro exotics, that is what this bp looks like before they got the "sausage" out) and i was wondering if there were ANYONE in Ottawa ontario that can help save this snake, or knows how to get it back on the road to recovery. The petstore owner said i could take it home if i know what i am doing and if i can save it (i have no idea what to do), now i did not have in mind taking a free sick bp home because its free, but the manager sed he will prolly euthanize it sometime next week by freezing it to death and i really would hate to have that happen. If anyone can help PLEASE EMAIL ME, PM ME, OR REPLY TO THIS THREAD ASAP!!!!

Thanks,
Ben

Impacted by LIQUID food? Huh? Huh, again?

Keep it warm and humid and try to feed it a small item injected with pediolyte.

Why do they have a snake that they know is sick for sale? Have you talked to them about that?
They, not you should be taking it to the vet.
Cheers,
Trevor

You know.. a majority of the large and even some personal ran Pet Stores in this area are all monitored and taken care of by local Vet Hospital in the area..... Where do you guys find these pet stores.

if I was closer I would take it.

If it is impacted, give it a warm bath and massage right above the lumped area. Maybe it can help get it out.

I agree though, they should be taking it to the vet. I personally would sneak a camera in there and take pics (can you imagine how my local pet store hate me? You wouldn't believe the amount of sales I cost them when I go in there! lol) of the snake, the enclosure and anything you think is important, then offer to take the snake off of their hands.

I'm sure people here can help you get it well.

Also if you don't have the money you might be able to work out something with a vet, like you come in and clean until the vet bill is paid off or something like that.

Goodluck.

I have been in one pet store where they took proper care of their animals.

BUT even that has changed, they take crap care of their animals now, and I wouldn't buy from them if they were the last place on earth to get reptiles.

thats so horrible freezing it to death!! why not just take it out quick why would he let it slowely suffer. Sapphire moon I can totally relate to the whole petstores hating you, I'm pretty sure Pjs at sqaure one wants to ban me as i give them weekly vists telling them to change their care for the animals( i came in once to see 10 or so collard lizards crammed into a 10 gallon one big one had a little guy by the neck( mating thing i'm not sure??) still it seems pet stores will never change. T.A.A.C and I are planning to protest outside of pjs in the summer if anyone wants to come btw. Oh ya and not all pet stores are monitered by vets i one who wouldn;t take there starving hoggy to a vet when it wasn;t eating and they didn;t know how to force feed it because vets cost to much and it was only one hoggy. Hopefully one day new laws will be passed to make more strict regulations for pet stores.
good luck reptileboi give them hel*.

Also if it is dehydrated, give it some a warm bath with some of that pedialyte (electrolite, not sure, ask someone before you do it) maybe he/she will drink some of it and help rehydrate it.

since it may be sick I think you are supposed to keep the temps higher (atleast 95).

No this pet store don't like me, When I went in there today the "regular" workers who knew me took off, just a friend that worked there (unfortunetely in the small animal department, she knows nothing about reptiles, but takes excellent care of the animals) and someone she paged for me (to complain to), the amazing thing was, he actually listened. I almost fell over from shock! lol

Good luck with it, and PLEASE keep atleast me updated! lol like I said, if I were closer I would definitly take it!

Hey sapphire moon,

Where do you get electrolytes from? Would Gatorade do?

Thanks,
Ben

I don't think so. I remember linds talking about them, you would be better off asking her about it. I remember her and a few others saying that it is ok to use it when snakes are dehydrated, but as for what EXACTLY to use and how to administer it, I would ask Linds (who I remember talking about it, lol) you should be able to pm or email her.

Hey everyone,

Well, just if u didnt think it was bad enough that they were gunna freeze the poor snake, today my friend was suppose to go pick the snake up for me (i couldnt go because i was sick) from the co manager working at the store, he told my friend that he couldnt take the snake anymore because the actual manager got pissed off at him for even telling anyone that anyone who can help it out could take the snake home. Ah, this just sucks, if anyone in the ottawa ontario area wants to know which petstore this is, it is called little critters located inside carlingwood mall, if anyone wants to round up a group n give the store hell, then be my guess .

Thanks,
Ben
