From what I understand about Amazon Tree Boas, that is pretty normal behavior for them. It's not a species that takes too well to handling.

Well, there isn't a whole bunch of mellow Amazons out there, some just are, and for the most part there isn't alot you can do to tame one that isn't one of the few that are naturally tame. They are more of a display snake to admire from a distance. Most will stress far too much from excessive handling. If you want more hands on time then I would suggest a corn snake or kingsnake etc...

Good luck
Dave

I think Trevor is still entitled to his opinion and I would have to agree with him.

I 100% agree, and as a PERSON, Trevor has a right to his opinion.

Amazon Tree Boas may never become "tame" They have a reputation for being nasty. Although some can be quite nice, this is not often the case.

If you wanted a snake you could handle you should not have gotten a Amazon Tree Boa. I suggest returning the snake, and picking up a cornsnake, kingsnake, ball python or other easy to handle snake.

If you wanna tame it..

Take him out every 2 days and handle him 5 to 10 minutes.

Do this 'till he endures your handling. Can take a week or a year.

But that's only a human need, if you wanna be "nice" with your snake I think he just wants to be left alone.

And I'm agreeing 100% with the lasts comments.

You owning 15 snakes has nothing to do with the attitude of the Amazon Tree Boa. LOL. Neither does him "being nice" when you got him.

Maybe it was too much stress that got him mean. I'm just guessing. That could be it. Stop picking on him/her.
