180 gallon aquarium

I currently have a 180 gal. oceanic aquarium that I am considering turning into a hep. tank. what would you put in it?

ackie moniters. they're good starting monitors. but like everyone else said, i think some sort of monitor would be good, or like someone else said, a breeding pair or trio of something.

heres another suggestion - get tank dividers and have two or three different herps in there. just make sure that they need similiar requirements. also, do a lot of research on whatever you decide to get.

First off what are you thinking of, a good pet to handle or a nice display animal, If you are looking of something to handle I''d definaltly go with some beardies, if you don't want to breed them go with a group of females, if you are intrested in having more tropical rainforest look and want a good handlable pet go with a water dragon group, basilisks are pretty neat too and wouldl be a good display pet.
If you are intersted in something big, I'd say a monitor or tegu, or a nice sized boa or python, good luck,

hey,
well ill have to agree with everyone on the beardies, there great pets and can be very social. but if you want something that is not as common, you get some frilled dragons. there a little bit more pricer but they are great pets.

im sure whatever you decide on will be a great pet but do some deep reseach before you make you pic!!

How about a huge colony of Dart Frogs? They make amazing display animals.

I think we all forgot that glass tanks suck for reptiles.. Sell the tank, buy some materials and make something out of wood of the same dimensions.

use it for something that requires little humidity. Beardiers would probably work.

And horned dragons to, they look really neat, but I don't know their reqirements. Just have a look at the net. scope out pet shops (Don't buy there!) and see if they have anything interesting, go home, research it, and if you like it go find a breeder.

I dont understand why tanks are sooooooo very bad for reptiles..........ive never had a problem with them......humidity is hard to control but if you make a nice wood top with very little ventilation your set

yeah, why do aquariums get such a bad rap? an oceanic aquarium looks much better than a homemade wooden box made from 2X4's

doesn't matter if it looks better or not. if the animal is better suited for the home made enclosure then you do it, simply because it is what is best for the animal, not what looks best. if you like the aquarium, then get something that is best suited for an aquarium like bearded dragons, frilled dragons are awsome, or a monitor is good too. anyway i'm sure you will pick something great, let us know what you decide and post some pics when it is all done. good luck

If it has a screen lid, then most monitors will be a big no no in an aquarium. Screen lids are killer for them, takes tons of necessary humidity away from them.
