Need advice quick..

My local pet store has a "Brown Skink" and a "Spotted Gecko" now i'm not totally sure of what each actually are because he isn't reliable when it comes to reptiles.. however they are so unhappy looking in the little tanks.. and i have a couple fairly large tanks set up and ready to go.. so i'm wondering if maybe i should buy both of them the spotted is about 7"- 8" and is like $10 and the Skink is about 9" and $10.. What do you guys think? Obviously once i have them in my possesion i would take pictures of each and get them properly identified..

As horrible as it is to say, I wouldn't pay for them if they are in such horrid conditions. By paying for the animals your letting the pet store know that they can keep these animals in sub standard care and still make a profit off them. The Best course of action is to unfortunatly let the animal die, as horrible as it sounds. It's the only way to stop the pet store from treating there animals so poorly.

There is a pet store in Scarbrough Town Center that treats all there animals with sub standard care. I've seen Brizillan Rainbow Boas in Glass cages with screen lids, Ball pythons kept on sand, snakes and lizards sitting in cages of their own feces, and a bunch of clueless half with teenagers that work there that don't even have half a clue to figure out how to take care of any of them. But I know that if I buy anything from said pet store it does nothing but reinforce the fact that they can take crappy care and spend less money and make more profit then they would if they cared for the animals properly.

i'm pretty sure i can get them both for like $5 or $10 altogether because he wants out of reptiles.. and i dont mean they are in horrid conditions..i just mean that they dont look happy since they've been in a small tank for most of their lives.. they will eat in front of me and they are pretty active.. the skink follows my finger anywhere i move it on the glass.. The owner of the store has only owned it for a few months and they were with the store when he bought it..

It sounds like a good idea to me! Just try and find out anything you can on these...lets just hope they're properly labeled!

Well after a final visit to the pet store.. i have decided on only the gecko as they had absolutely no luck catching the skink... Now that i have the gecko i'm thinking its either a Tokay or Marble gecko.. however does anyone know of any sites with goood pics of either types??

Also.. I guess about a year ago some house gecko's got loose and since then baby house geckos have been seen all over the place.. and he had caught one about a month ago that was eating well and is very active.. so i got a free baby house gecko that is only about 1.5" long max..

yeah the store isnt very big and its very warm and humid in there.. it always reminds me of what a rainforest feels like when i'm in there.. so i'm sure there are many surviving house geckos

possibly a tokay eh? Did it try to remove a finger when they took it out of the cage? if not, its not a tokay.
