www.rodentpro.com

they have good prices and nice sized rats for the money. I purchased from them before. If I didn't breed my own that is where I would still get them from. Good luck. Jamie

I would also guess that most people with a substantial collection of snakes breed their own rats. Little more work, but in the long run it's much cheaper and the quality can be assured.

yikes...... yeah, the big chain pet stores love ripping people off!

i raise my own, but that's only because of the amount we ended up needing, before that we got them from breeders.

you should never pay more than $1 for a pup and $2 for a medium!

i was gonna say corey, but everyone already beat me to it!

We breed our own. finally expanded to the point where we could keep up with our own demand.

Thanks Adam,

However I believe Hamilton is far too far away for us.

Cheers

I think breeding your own rats is alot of work, especially if you have a large collection of snakes. It is definately cheaper, but I guess that depends on how much money you save in comparison to how much time you are willing to spend with maintenance. Snake offspring monetary value is also a factor....

Plus factor in food and housing costs for the feeders. It would be cheaper but who knows for sure by how much.

I breed my own rodents as well but when I don't have a certain size that I need I go to local pet stores rather than larger national ones. They usually breed their own rodents as well and it is much cheaper.

And when I bought frozen I got them from RodentPro as well

Aidan, ALOT cheaper. it costs me $600 a year for bedding and food for all of my breeders and subsequent feeders while alive. I produce more than 2400 rats a year. Lets say I let my rats grow up to about the size of what a pet store would call a medium rat (150g range). Pet stores sell those rats for $3-5 a pop. That's $7200-$12000 a year for what I produce for $600. As I said, ALOT cheaper.
