Ho- hum....
..here's a big normal corn snake we saw recently here in Hillsborough Co. FL. Has the typical look although 2 others found near him (within 200 yds) were rather hypomelanistic.
I still like all the wild ones.
:Mark
Oh yeah. He along with a few of my snakes will be included in an upcoming book on cornsnakes. I'll fill you in on details as I know more.

Good for you posting pics of wild normal corns. The only other corn I've ever seen that wasn't CBB was on the Croc Hunter once.
Cheers,
Trevor

yeah, in nj you cant own them. its a dumb rule, but i think its because they are native to the US, so they want to protect the wild species, or something lol.

I know how you feel, here we can't own a common black king snake (native to Indiana) doesn't matter if it's captive bred or not. Seems to me if you could prove you bought it from a breeder and it was captive bred, it ought to be ok. What really gets to me is someone can kill a black king and that's not illegal, but if I take one and keep it in my home , it is. Something about that just doesn't seem right.

It's the same no matter where you go. In Alberta, we are not allowed to own rubber boas, western hognoses, horned lizards, garters, ribbon snakes, etc., because they are all indigenous. The rule makes sense, to some degree, but it would be nice to be able to own proven CBB specimens.

Unforunately laws are put in place to protect native species to prevent poaching of animals form the wild. Some people just can't let nature be, therefore laws are put in place to protect animals from being collected in the wild. Why buy CB when you can just steal from Mother Nature & deplete the wild population. Seems to be their logic I guess. When the animals are native to the area the fact that they are CB can be hard to prove or should I say its easier for poachers to operate, thus the laws in place. Mark
Note: by my definition a poacher is not a person who takes one specimen for a pet or to be used in captive breeding projects. A poacher is one who takes every specimen he finds that he thinks he can market for profit.
